Starting off at The Masque, a club in the basement at the back of an adult movie theatre on Hollywood Blvd, accolades and achievements like star on Hollywood Blvd (outside the address of that auspicious start), Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame, California Hall Of Fame and only all-female band to have a number one album writing their own songs and playing their own instruments are all part of the C.V for The Go-Go’s. The photograph on this shirt of Jane Wiedlin & Belinda Carlisle is from Club 88, Los Angeles CA, 1978 by Melanie Nissen.
When it came to picking a righteous recipient for the money, being that everyone involved comes from a punk rock d.i.y grass roots background it made perfect sense for the profits from sales of these t-shirt's be a fundraiser for Altadena Girls Fire Recovery. Created by Avery, an 8th grader at Eliot Arts Magnet in Altadena, which burnt down on January 8th, along with many other schools in the neighborhood, “When disaster strikes, people only focus on basic survival needs. But for teenage girls who have lost everything, feeling like ourselves again is really important for our mental health. Things like basic hygiene products to the makeup we wear every day help us feel normal in a time when everything feels chaotic. I want to help other teen girls in my community rebuild their sense of identity and self-confidence during this difficult time”. https://www.pledge.to/altadena-girls
